CHARLESTON, S.C. - The July/Summer 2000 issue of Campaigns & Elections magazine rated congressional candidate Andy Brack's campaign Web site as one of the top five Democratic House Web sites in the nation.

"This campaign is about providing new leadership in the new century and this honor from the magazine shows we're already leading the way with the Internet," said Brack, a 38-year-old Internet businessman who is running for the open seat held by U.S. Rep. Mark Sanford. "In Congress, I'll lead the way for people along the coast by fighting to pay down the debt, improve education and preserve Social Security."

Brack said his site, which is found at www.brackforcongress.com, will be integral in his campaign to win the congressional seat that stretches from Seabrook Island in Charleston County to Little River in Horry County.

"Over the next few months, Internet users along coastal South Carolina will be able to communicate with me directly and open a new kind of dialogue that I hope they'll find refreshing and invigorating," he said.

Last month, Brack's campaign because the first along the South Carolina coast to use Internet advertising to reach voters. Ads currently are running on the Web site offered by the Myrtle Beach Sun News (http://www.myrtlebeachaccess.com).

In the new issue of Campaigns & Elections, Brack's campaign was fourth in the magazine's "Top 5 Hits" for good Web sites. Here's what writer Mary Clare Jalonick wrote about the site:

"Andy Brack, a candidate in South Carolina's 1st District opean seat race, is walking the length of the district and cataloguing his experiences on his site. The site is well organized and entertaining, and Brack's accounts are humorous."

Brack said he launched the Web site in February 1999 on the same day he announced in Conway that he was running for Congress. Since then, he's communicated with hundreds of voters to build a network of support throughout the region.

Brack, 38, is managing partner of a high-tech Internet company in Charleston and is a nationally recognized Internet analyst. Prior to opening his small business, he served as chief spokesman and press secretary for U.S. Sen. Fritz Hollings.
