Statehouse Report launches,
named Web site of week
Businesses, organizations can keep a step ahead
of legislative
process through new online publication
FOR RELEASE: Jan. 29, 2002
CHARLESTON, S.C. - South Carolina businesses and organizations
have a new advance-warning legislative information resource - South
Carolina Statehouse Report (http://www.statehousereport.com).
(UPDATE: On Jan. 30, the SC
Business Review of SC Educational Radio named StatehouseReport.com
its Web site of the week.)
"Statehouse Report is a legislative forecasting tool for businesses
and organizations," said editor and publisher Andy Brack. "It
provides the kind of advance, inside look at the House and Senate
agendas so professionals can be ready for what's going to happen
in the legislative process."
Brack, a veteran journalist with more than 18 years of news experience,
said Statehouse Report, doesn't compete with traditional media,
such as newspapers and television.
"It's easy to figure out what just happened - you just pick
up a newspaper," Brack said. "We're focused on the future.
Statehouse Report fills a niche to help businesses and organizations
keep a step ahead by gaining a better understanding of what's going
to happen in Columbia.
"Armed with that information, they can be better advocates
for their clients and members. And they can organize their time
more efficiently to be at the Statehouse when they need to be."
Brack, a communications strategist from Charleston, says he launched
the publication this month after he realized business professionals
wasted a lot of valuable time in Columbia when the General Assembly
was in session.
"They don't need to be in Columbia all of the time,"
he said. "If they subscribe to Statehouse Report, they'll know
what's going to happen ahead of time. Armed with that information,
they can be better advocates for their clients and members. And
they can better organize their time to be at the Statehouse when
they need to be."
Statehouse Report, published every Friday with research by Assistant
Editor Martha Peeples, is delivered online to subscribers. The publication's
Web site, StatehouseReport.com, offers brief free summaries of major
legislation and a free weekly summary of a hot legislative issue.
"Statehouse Report puts important information in the hands
of opinion leaders early," Brack added. "It's a one-stop
personal legislative toolkit."
